OnlyFans and the Timeless Hypocrisy of Blaming Girls and Women for Men's Choices
Florida man banned from campaigning at all Waffle House locations is on a moral crusade
While our government is terrorizing its own people and fomenting international chaos, one aspiring politician is campaigning for office on a moral crusade, despite being banned from stumping in any Waffle House anywhere in Florida.
“Don't you dare come to my state and try to exploit and abuse young women,” said this would-be Anthony Comstock.
Finally. A wealthy, white, American man politically tackling the patriarchy rather than being complicit in benefitting from it? Willing and eager to challenge other powerful, wealthy, white men?
Is this young Republican breaking rank with the GOP and demanding that the FBI release the fully un-redacted Epstein files?
No.
Is he demanding that the DOJ investigate and prosecute the hundreds of men implicated in the international sex trafficking ring that exploited, sold, abused, and disappeared thousands of girls and young women for decades? Especially since Florida was one epicenter of Epstein’s network?
Also no.
“ … as Florida governor, I don’t want young women who could otherwise be mothers raising families, rearing children, I don’t want them to be selling their bodies to sick men online. And I don’t want young, impressionable men who have strayed from Christ, who have strayed from our Lord and savior to be told, and to be drawn into lust, and have their entire brain rewired,” said the Republican gubernatorial candidate with whom the Broward County School District cut ties in 2022 after allegations that he had a relationship with a 17-year-old student when he was 27. (He does not deny that they moved in together after she turned 18 and were briefly engaged. But he did deny being violent with her when she applied for a restraining order after they broke up.)
Dog sigh.
Hedge fund manager James Fishback, who is flailing behind his opponent, U.S. Representative Byron Donalds, a Trump-endorsed Black congressman Fishback has repeatedly called a “slave to his donors”, is proposing a 50% sin tax on OnlyFans creators. Those creators, in a demand-driven economy, are disproportionately young women. And some of them are making millions of dollars on their own, without filtering their earnings through the MLM of managers, pimps, or madams.
The Nick Fuentes fan would not charge the overwhelmingly male customers consuming any kind of “adult entertainment” online any kind of sin tax, just the overwhelmingly female producers.
“So, for someone like Sophie Rain, she would end up paying Florida 42 million dollars in taxes," Fishback said, claiming that OnlyFans creators are suffering from Stockholm syndrome and don’t realize they’re actually victims. He also claimed this tax could generate some $200 million in tax revenue for public school teacher salaries and better school lunches as though those creators wouldn’t immediately relocate to a different state. He has not said one word about the Epstein victims demanding legal consequences for their exploitation and abuse.
How does Fishback even know Sophie Rain by name? Or her annual income?
The struggling candidate is trying to capitalize on the fame and virality of a successful young woman to solicit some much-needed traction for his puritanical campaign.
Sophie Rain started an OnlyFans account when she was 18 years old, and her parents were drowning in bills, including $15k in back property taxes. Rain grew up on food stamps and the painful childhood awareness that her parents couldn’t afford to pay their bills. Since she started modeling on the subscription platform in 2023, she has earned more than $100 million, while paying 37% in federal income taxes. And she pointed out two important facts Fishback ignores: multibillion-dollar corporations evade paying their fair share of taxes, and the majority of content creators on OnlyFans are not multimillionaires; they’re struggling to pay their bills. Taxing the latter and not the former isn’t just hypocritical; it’s unfair.
The Florida entrepreneur exemplifies a combination literally 10 million men can’t resist paying for: a pretty, cherubic, childlike face pouting atop the voluptuous body of a post-pubescent woman. And her self-professed Christianity and virginity allow millions of men at their laptops to indulge the fantasy that she could be theirs alone.
For men like this, catnip or Kryptonite, female purity is a helluva drug.
“We don’t want our (emphasis mine) women in Florida to feel as if the only way they can make a living is by selling nude images or videos on the internet to complete strangers,” Fishback said in a CNN interview. “I will not tolerate cultural filth and moral degeneracy in my (emphasis mine) state.”
He did not say, “I will not tolerate exorbitant university tuition or predatory student loans in my state.” He did not say, “Florida must increase K-12 STEM funding to better prepare girls who want to go into higher-earning fields like technology, science, and medicine.” Because he doesn’t want girls to grow up to become engineers or doctors. He wants them to be subservient Christian wives and mothers, not high-income earners in male-dominated fields. And he damn sure doesn’t want them to become independent multi-millionaires by “taking advantage” of male lust.
His use of possessive pronouns, “our” women, “my” state, is not surprising. Nor is it surprising that he’s not campaigning against strip clubs and “taxing them into oblivion”, as he is threatening to do to OnlyFans.
When CNN asked if he would put a 50% tax on strip clubs, he smirked and said, “Just wait on it.”
Why wait, Fishback? Why not campaign on that too? Because he doesn’t actually want to penalize the powerful and wealthy Hugh Hefners exploiting the young women of Florida. He wants to penalize the now autonomous Girls Next Door for making their own money, for being in charge of their own sexuality, and how they use it.
The sinful behavior, the “moral degeneracy” Fishback decries, of course, is independent women managing their own bodies and image; women leveraging their own sexuality for their own financial gain without male management. In this economic sector, men are not in charge. They can only request.
There are other major differences between consuming “adult entertainment” at strip clubs and on OnlyFans besides who’s in charge of selling sexuality.
Women are safer online than they are in the physical presence of intoxicated men at strip clubs, where men overwhelmingly outnumber them. Men drug, assault, rape, and even kill sex workers, including exotic dancers, according to the National Institutes of Health’s National Library of Medicine.
The money women make on OnlyFans does not have to be split with strip club owners, managers, bouncers, or other staff. Women do not have to “rent the pole” online.
While the Florida SBDC does not specifically track data for strip club ownership, often referred to as “club kings”, it states that approximately 74% of all businesses in Florida are owned by men. Women on OnlyFans own their own accounts.
When challenging the sex industry, Fishback isn’t targeting male clients or male business owners who vote and finance campaigns.
Even if Fishback isn’t brave or ambitious enough to go after international sex traffickers, or even pressure federal leaders to do so, if his true objective was actually protecting young women his campaign for Florida governor would look very different.
But he’s not even campaigning on existing laws like Senate Bill 7064, which increases criminal penalties for sex traffickers and certifies safe houses for sex trafficking survivors and provides them trauma-informed therapy. Or the Civil Remedies for Criminal Practices statute allowing survivors to sue their traffickers or businesses who profited from their trafficking three times what was earned at their expense plus legal fees. He could promote the Expunction Statute that allows human trafficking victims to expunge their records for certain crimes they might have committed under duress.
His self-righteous claims of wanting to protect young men also ring hollow. None of his policies are future-focused on the devastating obstacles confronting our youngest generations.
Gun reform or better access to mental health care for the enraged men and boys disproportionately responsible for mass shootings in the U.S.? No, not that either. This candidate has not said one word about the uniquely American epidemic of mass shooters. This white man in his 30s has not said anything about the fact that the staggering, overwhelming majority of mass shooters are young white men endangering our schools, places of worship, and other public spaces.
Climate change? Also no. He is not proposing any kind of sustainable energy policies or investment, nor has he spoken in favor of the net‑zero climate programs struggling statewide in Florida to promote greenhouse-gas reduction and cap-and-trade systems.
Fishback’s campaign platform hypocrisy is as transparent as it is predictable.
Just like every school dress code that punishes girls for “distracting” boys (and adult male teachers) by existing while female, just like every “modesty” dictate that places the full responsibility of “purity” on girls and women, this candidate is blaming young women for offering men what they are willing to pay for, in virtual settings they opt into, and are safer for women.
With incel logic, Fishback wants to punish these entrepreneurial women as if they’re making cucks of willing and consenting men’s wallets. He is trying to protect men of all ages from the degradation of having to pay for two-dimensional access to girls and women whose bodies they feel sexually entitled to for free.
OnlyFans’ greatest moral offense in this Handmaid’s Tale-esque worldview, which neatly reduces women to roles that serve men: wives, whores, or housekeepers, is that it inverts the power differential. It allows women to be in charge of their sexuality, what they sell, and to whom, while preventing men from touching them at all. This sexual but fully autonomous third path where women can become independently wealthy without marrying a man or providing a male customer with sex is “cultural filth” and “moral degeneracy,” not the incels or married middle-aged men or conservative grandpas who consume it willingly and eagerly.
“Conservatives are my top spenders, so trying to take the moral high ground here is pretty hypocritical,” Rain said.
Rose McGowan made a succinct distinction during the Me Too movement: “sexual” is when a woman embraces her own sexuality and expresses it or uses it however she wants, whenever she wants, and for any reason she wants. “Sexualized” is when someone else sexualizes you for their benefit.
“People already judge us. If you wait for approval, you’ll never do anything,” Rain told People magazine who interviewed the creator about her seven-figure charitable contributions. “My advice is super simple: do what your heart tells you. The judgment doesn’t matter.”
The heart of Florida Republicans will decide in November which candidate they want to replace Ron DeSantis.
But blaming girls and women for the choices and behavior of men isn’t just a political and moral failing in Florida. It is a universal obstacle that historically and continuously threatens the dignity, independence, equality, and actual lives of women all over the world.
